As with any herbal supplement, it’s critical to make sure it’s safe for consumption. Kratom is no exception. When seeking to buy the best Kratom available, it then goes without saying it must be third-party lab tested. When Kratom vendors take these measures to ensure quality control, it shows they value your safety and health. That’s exactly what we do at Soap Korner. In fact, we’ve been testing all of our Kratom products for years, long before other vendors.
When Kratom is properly tested it gives us a well-rounded, accurate understanding of the plant’s potency, purity and quality.
Why We Test Our Kratom in a Lab
At Soap Korner, we take pride in paving the way for responsible Kratom consumption. Each of our Kratom batches strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to meet strict regulations. To ensure reliable testing, we use an accredited lab, ARL (Analytical Resource Laboratories).
When we test our Kratom, we look for contaminants, adulterants and alkaloid percentages. So, testing ensures the purity, consistency and strength of our Kratom. Our strict safety standards verify our product is top-tier – and it also helps legitimize the fast-growing, often misunderstood Kratom industry.
In fact, the American Kratom Association has been working hard to legitimize the industry by debunking misleading and inaccurate data and narratives about Kratom. Such misinformation often arises from Kratom that was poorly tested or not tested at all. This also means Kratom is not yet legal in all 50 states. Be sure to check if Kratom is legal in your state before you buy Kratom online.
Using Science to Verify Quality
There are Kratom vendors and companies that claim testing is pointless. Or, they test only a small portion of their product, rendering the entire testing process a fruitless effort. Therefore, there’s a correct way to test Kratom, and there’s a wrong way.
At Soap Korner, we thoroughly test every batch in its entirety. This is the only way to produce accurate, reliable results. Each batch of Kratom is run through microbiology and chemical testing to examine it for pathogens, chemical properties and contaminants, such as heavy metals and pesticides.
The data accumulated in each test also reveals the percentage of any present alkaloids. The alkaloid concentration with the plant directly correlates with its potency. By testing the ratios and percentages of alkaloids in each strand, we produce a more consistent and effective product.
All these tests take time and dedication to conduct, but it’s worth it because we get sound data that tells us our Kratom is pure and top-quality.
The Kratom Testing Process
How Soap Korner gets our Kratom ready for consumption is a lengthy yet worthwhile process. It involves a number of steps, from harvesting to packaging.
First, we receive the product from our supplier in Indonesia, where Kratom is grown along riverbeds and other places and harvested at its peak. If it’s harvested too early or too late, it can vastly diminish its potency. We carefully selected our supplier and even traveled to Indonesia to see where the Kratom is grown and how it’s harvested. By the time we receive our supply, it has already undergone a round of testing.
Second, to follow Good Manufacturing Practices, we quarantine the supply. We do this until a certain ratio of the total batch, depending on how much we have received, has been lab tested in the US.
Third, we test the supply in a lab. We do a full panel test that includes a total plate count (also called the aerobic colony count, standard plate count, Mesophilic count and Total Plate Count). Our lab also tests for coliforms, E. coli O157, staphylococcus aureus, yeast, mold and heavy metals, including arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead. And, an alkaloid panel tests for Mitragynine and 7-hydroxy-mitragynine.
All of this, as well as many other factors, are taken into account to determine the Kratom’s purity and safety.
Choosing the Right Lab
Not all labs are created equal. The right lab is accredited, reliable and experienced. At Soap Korner, we test our Kratom through one of the most reputable labs, ARL. ARL is accredited, meaning it’s:
- Licensed by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)· Accredited by the International Organizations for Standardization (ISO)· Registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)· Compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
It is important to note that each of these organizations have an ongoing process of regulating ARL testing methods, so the testing will remain scientifically valid and compliant with health standards. When you don’t use a lab with this credibility, it can cause wildly inaccurate and varied results. We actually experimented with this ourselves when we sent the same Kratom sample to multiple labs and received significantly varying results. For example, we once sent a Red Maeng Da sample to two labs. The Mitragynine percentage from Lab A was .82, while Lab B had a Mitragynine percentage of 1.69. That’s a huge difference for the same product!
At Soap Korner, our number one goal is to protect our customers as well as the industry. But, we wouldn’t be able to do that if it weren’t for our thorough, effective and accurate testing protocols. We want Kratom consumers to rest assured that when they buy Kratom from Soap Korner, they’re buying the very best Kratom available.
